Who we are

Arxlate (“we”, “us”) is an early-launch project that translates academic papers from arXiv and uploaded PDFs while preserving formulas and layout. The Service is currently operated by a private individual resident in the Russian Federation as a non-commercial project; once paid plans become available, the operator will register as a self-employed taxpayer (НПД) and this notice will be updated accordingly. We are not affiliated with arXiv.org or Cornell University. The Service is available internationally and supports multiple interface languages. For privacy questions, contact us at support@arxlate.com.

Data we collect

  • Account email — used for authentication and transactional email.
  • Papers you translate — the source PDF, extracted text, and the translation are cached on our infrastructure for your account only. We do not share your translations with other users.
  • Chat history— questions you ask about a paper and the model's answers are stored against your account so you can revisit them.
  • Payment data — not collected at this stage. The Service is free during the early-launch phase. When paid plans launch, payment processing will be handled by external providers (planned: Robokassa for Russian-region payments, Lava.top for international payments) and we will only see what those providers expose to us — typically the last four digits of the card and a customer identifier. No card details ever touch our infrastructure.
  • Waitlist email — if you submit your email on the pricing page to be notified about paid plans, we store the email and the tier you expressed interest in, until the paid plans launch and we send you the launch announcement.
  • Usage telemetry — anonymous page views via Vercel Analytics and error reports via Sentry, for reliability. No third-party advertising trackers.

How we use it

  • To run the translation pipeline and serve you the result.
  • To send transactional email (account verification, billing receipts).
  • To process payments and prevent abuse / fraud.
  • To debug and improve the service via aggregated, anonymised metrics.

We do not train AI models on your papers. Translations run through model providers under zero-retention contracts where available.

Third parties (sub-processors)

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You can access, export, or delete your data at any time:

  • Access & correction — your dashboard shows everything we store; account fields are user-editable.

Retention

  • Free-plan papers are deleted automatically 15 days after translation.
  • Paid-plan papers are retained until you delete them.
  • When you delete your account, all associated data is purged within 30 days (with a short backup retention window for disaster recovery).

Security

Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our infrastructure providers. Access to production systems is limited to a small number of operators and audited.

International transfers

Our infrastructure is primarily located in the EU and US. By using the service you consent to your data being processed in these regions. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
